Chapter 2 ... A Mother's Love

My eyes gaze upon the rounded body of my son, a little babe.   I have come to learn rather than to teach  am suddenly awakened to the greatness of this being that is the fountain of youth embodied; whose life and message are already everywhere around me.

The soft warmth of his pure skin is the soothing stillness of yellow sunshine
The sweetness of his face is the first blooming bud of spring,
His dark silky hair is the wild path of flowing wind,

His curious gaze is the sharp light of day which makes all things bright
His tears are the broken heart of humanity, made whole in love
His laughter is a bubbling stream whose ripples pool up in the thirsting soul

One might summon a parade of trumpeters and marching bands with flutes and symbols to celebrate such triumphant beauty with resounding chords of timeless love,
And yet I find that all my mothering passion is channeled fully in a warm hug, a knowing smile and a gentle kiss upon his cheek.
